This is LAST week’s Ales and Tales. Yes, it took me a whole week to get the writeup done. I was so tired every night last week…anyway, I can’t let this one go unwritten-up! Not when it combines MVT and Dharius’ first gig as an A&T host! Harperella was unable to attend so Dharius acted as MC, and I helped out as stage manager. Which was possible because of the fact that Old Winyards got to take a break and let Mar Vanwa Tyalieva play as the house band at their kinhouse!

Old Winyards opened with a song Astleigh transcribed at Casinthelion’s request, “Loyal to No One.” A lively dancing tune indeed!
Casinthelion played his favorite tune from LMB, “The Swordsman in the Sky”.
The Book Club Band performed a dwarven version of last week’s song of the King Under the Mountain.
Rayana played a song titled “Clap”, quite a lively number…if memory serves a whole week later…*ahem*
Turula Tenderfoot performed a lovely song on the harp.
A song which quite moved our Lyonardo!
Then the hobbits Turula and Algrogo accompanied an elf called Narech in a high spirited song of a most intriguing fashion.

I was nearly sure we were going to end the night without a single tale, when Adbern whispered to Lennidhren that he had one to tell! So we ended our program with his fine story…

Is that a ghostly horse enjoying an MVT tune? This doesn’t have anything to do with Flopsie, that bunny that follows Ingolemo around, does it?
Lennidhren organized a pretty circle dance for one of MVT’s numbers.
Somewhat less successful was a two-line dance that ended up with lines so long some people were too far from the stage to hear the music…so we switched to four lines…or more…for the next song.
And just before Musical Mentoring, we ended the night with a partners dance led by co-hosts Dharius and Lennidhren.

Words of wisdom…or…something, from Ingolemo:

It seems very fun! Never took part in such events, I’ll give it a try.
Is it really possible that what you say appears as a floaty sentece? How is it done?
Yes, if you chat in the /say channel it appears as floating text. I believe there’s a setting in the Options panel that can be checked or unchecked to control whether you see it though (called maybe “chat bubbles”?). Also, you can only see the text if you are fairly close to the speaker, so if someone at Ales & Tales gets too far away from the stage they may not hear what’s going on, and sometimes a bug occurs so that even if you are in the range where you should be able to hear, you won’t hear until you walk up VERY close to the speaker…
My first Ales and Tales was a great experience, though I almost slept through it. Old Wineyards did a great job. I was glad I got to tell a tale (yes, I play as Adbern), though it was quite rocky. Perhaps I should have written down beforehand. Oh well! I look forward to attending the next A&T that I will be available for.
