Eriador Light Orchestra in Concert

First, a tip for all who like to take screenshots in LOTRO as much as I do: Periodically, move those pictures out of the main “The Lord of the Rings Online” folder where they are saved by default. I habitually take so many shots at events to be sure I have enough “good” ones for a post, there were over 4000 of them from 2010 alone in there yesterday. I moved them into a subfolder and oh my, how much less lag I had at last night’s concert! It used to take a couple of seconds to save each screenshot; now it’s instantaneous. The downside is that the screenshots are automatically numbered such that, once I moved all the pictures to another folder, the new ones started over with 0000, 0001, etc. Which means when I go to move *these* pictures to the subfolder, there will be name overlap. I may need multiple subfolders. Ah well.

So last night, the delightful and highly accomplished Eriador Light Orchestra of Landroval performed for a crowd of adoring fans at the Methel Stage in Bywater!

We had a bit of a scare when Lyonardo came on stage to announce that the show would begin…but wait! Would it be the show we showed up for?

To our relief, that was just Lyonardo’s idea of a joke. :-)

Chetwood Mac and Mega Vagabond

Last night Landroval enjoyed another great tribute concert, as an oddly familiar-looking band calling itself Chetwood Mac appeared on the Methel-stage in Bywater, with another oddly familiar group opening for them under the name of Mega Vagabond. Though I must confess that my familiarity with the originals extended only far enough to Google the names of the bands being thus tributed, and not so far as to have heard any of the music before, the Middle-earth versions of both bands sounded great! Despite some trouble with overzealous fans throwing down colored circles and fireworks and such that may’ve been meant just to add to the fun but were problematic for some attendees as well as for the process of recording the show, it still was a very enjoyable concert.

So without further ado, and with minimal comment – pictures!

A Concert in the Shire

Lennidhren was bustling around Bree, learning to craft weapons of the sort she can’t use anyway (She’s a Historian…so she is a Weaponsmith but not a Woodworker, meaning she can craft all sorts of metal weapons, but not the wood staves that as a Lore-master she uses…Well, someday she’ll learn to swing a sword along with that staff, and then she can make herself something shiny), when a rumour caught her ear of a concert about to begin. The Green Hill Music Society played some lively Summer-y tunes tonight at the Bird & Baby in Michel Delving. Lennidhren dropped her iron ingots (ow!) and hired a fast horse to the Shire, and arrived just in time!

Spring: Sprung, Sung.

Lennidhren’s a very bookish, old-fashioned Elf, and a bit of a wallflower. On the other hand, let there be a merry tune playing, and you might think she would fit in quite well with the frivolous young Elves singing “Tra-la-la-lally down here in the Valley” at Rivendell. So this year during the Spring Festival, she has made the rounds of the dance teachers of Middle-earth to learn the latest steps. Tonight at the Green Hill Music Society’s “Spring Has Sprung” concert on Landroval, she finally got a chance to put her dance steps to use!

It was a fun concert, with some very lively Hobbits (well, and others, but Lennidhren is a bit Hobbit-shy) and fine music. Apparently there was also a poem recited by the fair Dovie at the intermission, also; however for some strange reason, Lennidhren was unable to hear a word the young Hobbit was saying. Very strange, as she was still able to hear the audience’s comments.

Without further ado…pictures!
