Sooner or later it had to happen. One has to try out the new classes, after all. Handuilas began her journey a while ago when Nimrodel server was down for maintenance so I went and rolled a runekeeper on Windfola and played her instead…Now, Linett is just a smidgen away from level 60 and so what do I do? I roll a warden. Meet Arethryth.

She is a shieldmaiden of Rohan, because that seemed appropriate for a warden (second most appropriate to being a Ranger, which the class description makes it sound much like). I am most pleased with the freckles.

Warden play is fun so far; since yesterday she’s already up to level 8. One thing presently annoying with the gambit system – I find myself looking more at the quickslot icons, to figure out which skill she needs to do next for the desired gambit, than at the warden and her enemies fighting up in the middle of the screen. Presumably time will bring familiarity with what skills I have slotted where and decrease the need to look down from the fight.

Is this what all the fashionable denizens of Middle-earth are wearing now?

So today Linett took a break from all that exhausting questing to do some clothes-shopping on the auction hall. Never fond of hauberks or robes, and not finding any nice dresses for sale (that she doesn’t already have in her wardrobe), she decided on a little number called “Fancy Shirt and Pants.” Fancy Pants is right…Here’s the new outfit:

Oh my. That’ll strain the eyes, won’t it? I feel like I’ve wandered out of Moria into the 70’s…Time for some Dwarven Disco…

Meet my new favorite mob…the Fiery Grim of the Flaming Deeps.

I don’t know why but I am fascinated every time I fight one of these, by that little thing it does where it turns itself from a pillar of fire into a fire-and-shadow DRAGON soaring over your head. Well, over Maenad’s (my lynx’s) head, because Linett herself likes to admire these toasty guys from a nice distance and let the pet tank while she throws fireballs at it. (For that matter, why is a FIERY Grim even susceptible to fire-based skills like Burning Embers? Not complaining, I am happy to throw my fireballs at it till the nice dragon disappears, but it does seem odd.) I am so fascinated by the dragon animation that I compulsively screenshot it every time it happens. Even though I already have a surplus of these screenshots taken. Here are just a few, so you can admire the dragonfire with me.
