What I’m Doing These Days

So it’s been nearly a year since my last post here – or rather at the MyMiddleEarth blogs, which I’ve now transferred back to here since MME has closed. It’s been more than a year (I think?) since I did much of anything in LOTRO. Permanently burnt out? I don’t know; I still have a lifetime membership (and…at least one expansion that I haven’t gone in to play yet…) so I think I’ll be back someday, but for now I’ve been keeping busy with non-MMO RPGs for the most part, and occasionally SWTOR as if it were non-MMO, because I want to see how ALL the class story quests turn out there. Almost done with that goal, too…

I am completely enthralled with Bioware storytelling, however, not just in SWTOR but in their single player RPGs: Mass Effect, KOTOR, and especially Dragon Age. So that’s what I’ve been playing. In the past couple of months I’ve (1) played through Dragon Age: Inquisition; (2) gone back to finish a third playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins (the first time I beat that game I immediately went and played through it all again…and then started a third one at some point which had stalled when I found something else to play); (3) completed a second playthrough of Dragon Age II over Christmas Break; and (4) started my second playthrough of Inquisition using the world state of my latest DA:O and DA2 playthroughs. I am the sort of person who used to love Choose Your Own Adventure books as a kid because I could follow the story through one decision’s outcomes…and then go back and see what would have happened if I made the OTHER choice, too. So that’s what Dragon Age playthroughs are for me – I like seeing how my character’s decisions actually affect the story. This would also explain why in SWTOR I’m not just trying to complete one playthrough for each class but have started second playthroughs for a few of them…I’m such a completionist.

Anyway, with all this time away from LOTRO I haven’t made any more progress on the Lord of the Hats knitting. But I’m looking at some of those Dragon Age and SWTOR hats and getting ideas…If any of the hats are silly enough to really take my fancy, maybe we’ll see how they turn out on the needles!
