(RannaDylin) The Fall of Gil-Galad

Now THIS one was a LOTRO rendition of a song by our kinship’s founder! You can hear the original song here. And you can hear me sing it above.

(RannaDylin) The Lay of Nimrodel

Another one that’s not from Donald Swann’s song cycle, I think? But so beautiful and it was a joy to sing! Especially since the first server I played on in LOTRO was Nimrodel…I was Linett Redfern, Lore-master, there. 🙂

(RannaDylin) The Lay of Beren and Luthien

sung by Lennidhren for Ales and Tales in LOTRO…this one’s not from Donald Swann’s song cycle of Tolkien’s poetry, I think, but I have lost track of the composer in the years since we recorded those podcasts!

(RannaDylin) In Western Lands

One of my favorites from Donald Swann’s song cycle of Tolkien’s poetry.

(RannaDylin) I Sit Beside the Fire and Think

Another song from Donald Swann’s musical settings for Tolkien’s poems.

The Road Goes Ever On: A Tolkien Song Cycle (and then some)

So back in the day I played LOTRO and cohosted a podcast featuring songs and stories from our weekly variety show, Ales and Tales. (The show’s still running because wonderful hard working kinmates stepped up to keep running it when I burnt out and eventually stopped playing the game, but I don’t think anyone podcasts it anymore. That was a lot of work…)

Anyway, we  used to do our own recordings of songs as well as stories for the show. So coming up on this normally Dragon Age-centric blog: A series of songs and stories recorded by me, under the name of Lennidhren, my main LOTRO character and Ales and Tales stage manager.

I shall tag them with “lennidhren” so feel free to block that if you don’t want to see any LOTRO/Tolkien fandom here. *shrug*

Linett on MME!

Well, it’s been more than half a year since my last blog post… /shame! Like so many of the blogging community at my.lotro, I’ve been disheartened by all that is broken there. That combined with a very busy school year and the launch in August of the Ales and Tales Podcast – well, blogging (apart from podcast show notes) has fallen low on my to-do list. Anyway, I’m giving the new MME blogs a try now.

So, how about a status update? Since the last time I blogged…
– Linett has gone into retirement, sort of, at 65 on Nimrodel, because I’ve been keeping so busy with the Lonely Mountain Band on Landroval. I don’t think I’ll change the blog’s name to Lennidhren’s Lore though. I’m quite attached to Linett even if I don’t play her now…
– Linett has, however, taken on a new career…as a Jedi Sage in SWTOR.
– The Ales and Tales Podcast is up to 21 episodes now! And we’ve recorded 29, just have the editing still to do on 8 of them.
– I’ve still got a LOTRO Hat Knitting project in mind…to recreate hats from the game in knitted form, complete with progress updates on the blog and hopefully writing up the patterns here too. But alas! I’ve got so much other knitting in progress right now – gloves for my sister, a hat for my mom, several pairs of socks, a sweater I REALLY want to get finished so I can wear it while it’s still cold out – that I haven’t found time yet to start on those hats. However, if you see a LOTRO hat you’d particularly like me to knit, comment with a picture! It might just inspire me to get this project started!

Ales and Tales at Tham Gelair

Locney and I are becoming quite attached to our role as Ales and Tales co-hosts, filling in for Harperella again this week up at Tham Gelair, home to an astonishing number of wolves and rats. Of course – Harperella’s return next week just means we can return to playing in Old Winyards as usual! Win-win, yes? Still, it’s been fun running things for a while!

Ales and Tales on Two Tree Hill

It doesn’t have a name, really. It’s just a nice tall hill in the Green Hill Country (so, ipso facto, one of many such hills). But we started calling it Two Tree Hill when we held Ales and Tales there last night. It does get tedious to repeatedly explain “You go south out of Frogmorton, through the apple orchard across the road, and then up the hill till you find the spot with two trees standing alone. That’s the stage.” In other words – one of our more rugged and obscure Ales and Tales locations, but as beautiful as only the Shire can be!

And as you can see from that picture, with Harperella on vacation, Locney and Lennidhren acted as hosts again. This is fun!

Belated Ales and Tales Pictures

For the two weeks whose writeups I missed, here are the photo albums:

March 21 at the Nos Morel kinhouse

March 14 at The Oak and Elm

Perhaps I will yet get the writeups done, but don’t count on it…

Also. Is it just April Fools’ Day hallucination, or is the My.LOTRO global feed working again?! I see a new post there today!
