Self-Positivity Meme

@spirrum tagged me for the meme in which you list your five
favorite fanfics or artworks that you’ve done. I think I shall list a bit of
both, although my art medium is not pixels but yarn. 🙂

Favorites I’ve written:

Such As
– the fourth in the Hawkquisition series and I feel like it’s a
much stronger story than the previous three. I like writing Fenris/Hawke fluff,
but keeping them apart for a few months on separate adventures of inquisition
business and parenthood business worked out surprisingly well. Maybe because it
made room for epistolary fluff. Also because it led them to Metis.

– my second favorite ship to write for: Carver/Merrill. Theirs was a background
relationship in Hawkquisition but this sort of long one-shot let me explore the
beginnings of that relationship, all in the context of templar drama and red
lyrium and glimpses of Hawke leaving Fenris behind to go to Skyhold.

Corellian Rogue in King Arthur’s Court
– WELL YOU SEE once upon a time I
used to write Star Wars fanfic, particularly Rogue Squadron, and this crossover
with Camelot…well. It was a delight.

In the
– I also used to write LOTR fanfic, primarily for performing at Ales
and Tales, the weekly variety show my kin in LOTRO ran. (Runs? They still run
it. I burnt out after stage managing it for a good while and stopped playing
LOTRO; now I hesitate to return to it because I know how much time I’d end up
investing there and I’ve transferred those investments to things like Fenhawke
fanfic and I’m not prepared to cut back there just yet.) Anyway this story was
a response to a prompt where people suggested random elements to include and a
RNG picked three of them. It ended up as a tale told by my lore-master,
Lennidhren of Lorien, about a haunting experience in the Prancing Pony and a
glimpse back through the ages to the Fall of Gondolin…I’m really quite proud of
this one!

And one favorite I knitted:

Fenris Doll!
Although he’s part of a set for @my-hart-will-go-on, the Hawke doll’s outfit is
still under construction but Fenris is finished and is one of the BEST things I
have knit yet. (And if you’re on Ravelry, I’m magistra there – feel free to
friend me and see what else I’ve knit. 🙂 )

Tagging: @broodywolf @quinnlocke @glyphron-dragon-age @therealfrankenberry @emma-trevelyan @vertigosight @whatthefawxblogs @theherocomplex @lyriumrebel @havesomegin @nine-luzgar @redheadthunderhead and anyone else who wishes to do this!

Reasons to Join the Tolkien Fandom

– old. like really old. older than star trek old.

– immortal. existed for over half a century before anybody thought about making movies. will keep existing after people forget them.

– full of nerds. hardcore nerds who do good research. A+

– full of nerds. like actual climatologists and geologists. official nerds who publish in official journals about speculative science in a fantasy world.

– high chance they will read your fanfic/meta. Tolkien is not an easy read and they probably have the patience/skills to get through your writing easy

– what is canon? we just don’t know

– appreciates my excessive collection of nature photos. Mostly trees and mountains.

– likes shiny things

– does not approve of keeping shiny things. sometimes approves of stealing them

(RannaDylin) The Fall of Gil-Galad

Now THIS one was a LOTRO rendition of a song by our kinship’s founder! You can hear the original song here. And you can hear me sing it above.

(RannaDylin) The Lay of Nimrodel

Another one that’s not from Donald Swann’s song cycle, I think? But so beautiful and it was a joy to sing! Especially since the first server I played on in LOTRO was Nimrodel…I was Linett Redfern, Lore-master, there. 🙂

(RannaDylin) The Lay of Beren and Luthien

sung by Lennidhren for Ales and Tales in LOTRO…this one’s not from Donald Swann’s song cycle of Tolkien’s poetry, I think, but I have lost track of the composer in the years since we recorded those podcasts!
